Greetings,
Welcome to the Work Sphere edition of our newsletter, The FULL•LIFE® Amplifier™. In this edition of the Newsletter we are focusing on the Work Sphere since each of our jobs tend to be an important part of our lives. So why do most adults work and why is the Work Sphere so important? I think it is because our work reflects our souls, our personal mission, and values. We pay our bills with salary from work, but it is much more than this. Work has the potential to imprison or free each of us. It changes throughout our life span. It may begin as a job, evolve into a career, and then if we are really lucky, become one’s “calling”. “Calling” is when a job merges with the spiritual and ceases to feel like work anymore, because it is imbued with so much meaning and creativity as well as connection to others. The people we work with are so important. They are a distinct community of vital people in our lives, some of whom we like and some of whom we tolerate. Together, we make up a team that can make or break the success of our companies. Together, we learn to work toward joint outcomes that will bring revenues to our companies and please our customers. For some unknown reason, this activity called Work tends to bring great satisfaction and meaning to each of our lives. Without it we would stay home and watch television, we would never know the excitement of creating a new project that does something outstanding, that changes the world a little, hopefully for the better. At FULL•LIFE® CENTERS, we use PerformaCoachingsm technologies to help individual clients optimize their performance at their current workplaces. In our organizational consulting practice, we apply Values-based Management Intervention to promote healthy leadership and effective company outcomes including better staff morale, improved productivity, and decreased absenteeism – all leading to increased revenues and customer satisfaction. So what can each of us do to improve our respective work places? Each of us could start with five ideas that could improve the work place for staff or customers. The first thing is to make a list of the five improvement ideas and then set an approximate time frame for each goal. For example, your first goal might be: “I will call all customers back within 24 hours of their call”. As much as we all like change, it is important to monitor the improvement interventions to make sure they continue over time. Frequently without this monitoring and maintenance, changes cease to exist and “fall between the cracks”. You can prevent this with regular inspection of your new systems in your company. In the Aspects column, FULL•LIFE® coach Miriam Levy-Mixon, LCSW entitles her work place article, The Work Sphere: High Work Performance Is Inter-Dependent with Life Balance. Take a look at this issue's FULL•LIFE® BOOK CLUB selection. We are featuring Byron Katie's inspiring book, I Need Your Love – Is That True? Please look for the author's personal message to FULL•LIFE® Centers’ clients and friends. I think you will really enjoy this book. All of us at FULL•LIFE® hope you enjoy this edition of our newsletter that focuses on the Work Sphere. Be sure to take a look at the columns below:
